Our Verification Process

Nothing kills the fun of a good deal faster than a promo code that gets rejected at checkout. You’ve filled your cart, you’re one click from paying, and the box turns red.

We built Couponaro to fix that. Every code that goes live on this site passes through a verification process before it’s published, and gets checked again while it’s live. Here’s exactly what that looks like.

HOW WE VERIFY COUPONS

Our goal is simple: give shoppers a clearer picture of which offers are worth trying. We source, test, monitor, and update our listings so you can shop with greater confidence.

1. We Source Codes from the Merchant

Most of the offers you’ll find on Couponaro come directly from brands or from the affiliate networks they use to manage their promotions. When a merchant launches a sale or promotional campaign, we receive the offer details and applicable terms from the source.

We also collect publicly posted coupon codes. However, those offers are not presented as verified until someone on our team has tested them through our verification process.

2. We Test Codes the Way You Use Them

This is the part no algorithm can replace. Our editors add real products to a real shopping cart on the merchant’s website, enter the promotional code, and check what happens to the final total.

A code passes our testing process when the advertised discount actually applies. When a code works only on a limited selection of products, provides a different discount than advertised, or has another important limitation, we make that information clear in the listing.

3. We Explain the Fine Print

Many promotional codes come with conditions. A minimum purchase may be required. Some offers are available only to new customers, while others exclude sale items, gift cards, selected brands, or certain locations.

When we discover a restriction during testing, we aim to make it visible in the coupon listing so you can understand the offer before clicking through to the merchant.

4. We Listen to Shopper Feedback

Thumbs Up & Thumbs Down

Couponaro offers include feedback options that allow shoppers to tell us whether a promotion worked for them. These signals help us identify offers that may need another review.

Fast Re-Testing

When a coupon begins receiving negative reports, we flag it for review. If the code is no longer working, we remove it. If the problem comes from a condition that was not clearly explained, we update the listing.

5. We Check for Expired Offers Every Day

Coupon codes can have a short shelf life. Merchants may end promotions early, change their terms, or replace one campaign with another without a public announcement.

We regularly review our coupon database to identify expired offers, update available information, and keep store pages focused on current opportunities. Old codes are not meant to remain on the site simply to collect clicks.

WHAT OUR LABELS MEAN

Verified — Tested at checkout by our team recently. These offers have been reviewed and have the highest likelihood of working at the time of testing.

Deal — No coupon code is required. The discount is applied through the merchant link.

Unverified — Submitted by a shopper or found publicly, but not yet tested by our team. It may work, but we have not independently verified it.

Expired — A previously available offer that is no longer active based on our latest information. Some expired offers may occasionally be reactivated by merchants.

Why a Verified Code Can Still Fail

We work hard to keep our coupon information accurate, but no coupon website can guarantee that every promotional code will work for every shopper at every moment. Merchants control their own promotions and can change or end them without notice.

Minimum Spend

Your cart may need to reach a specific order value before the promotion becomes valid.

Customer Restrictions

Some promotions are limited to first-time customers, members, or shoppers who meet specific eligibility requirements.

Product Exclusions

Sale items, gift cards, selected brands, or other products may be excluded from a promotion.

Regional Restrictions

Some offers are available only in specific countries or regions.

Code Stacking

A merchant may prevent customers from combining the promotional code with another discount already applied to the order.

If a Code Doesn’t Work

If a coupon doesn’t work, use the thumbs down option on the offer when available. This is one of the fastest ways to let us and other shoppers know that something may have changed.

You can also contact us directly through our Contact page. Please tell us which store and coupon code you tried, along with any useful details about what happened at checkout. Our team can then review the offer and update or remove the listing when appropriate.

Our Affiliate Disclosure

Couponaro earns a commission when you shop through some of the links on our website. This helps us keep the platform available to shoppers at no direct cost.

Our affiliate relationships do not determine whether a coupon works, and commission rates do not determine which offers we publish or how stores are presented. Our focus remains on helping shoppers find useful savings and clearer information.

Our goal is simple: fewer dead codes, clearer terms, and a better shopping experience.
