Ooni Volt 2 Manual: How to Set Up, Use and Clean Your Oven
9 min read · by Arjun Mehta · Last updated: November 6, 2026
The Ooni Volt 2 manual is the official Assembly Instructions PDF from Ooni, and it covers setup, pizza presets, seasoning, cleaning and safety for this indoor electric oven. Ooni links the digital version from its Volt 2 getting-started page.
Read the Ooni Volt 2 manual in full before the first cook, because the Volt 2 reaches 850 °F and is designed for indoor use only. The sections below pull out the steps and numbers you need most.
What Comes in the Ooni Volt 2 Box
The Volt 2 box holds the oven, a 13.3-inch pizza stone, an oven shelf, a power cable, a power switch and the serial number label. The Ooni Volt 2 manual lists these parts, and Ooni’s product page confirms the 13.3-inch stone size.
The power cable depends on your region, so check that it fits your local outlet before you plug in. The serial number sits on the rating plate at the back of the oven, and Ooni also prints it on the product box.
Only Ooni pizza stones are compatible. The Ooni Volt 2 manual specifies a 10 mm (0.4 in) stone and warns that the oven must never run without the stone in place. Keep oil and baking paper off the stone.
Ooni’s Volt 2 getting-started page describes the oven as a 12-inch electric indoor pizza oven with a range from 70 °F to 850 °F. For the footprint and weight, see the Ooni Volt 2 dimensions.
Ooni Volt 2 Manual Setup: Placement, Assembly and First Power-On
Place the Volt 2 on a level, heat-resistant surface, lift it by the side handholds, insert the stone with both hands and plug it in. Ooni says this takes less than 5 minutes.

- Place the oven on a level, stable, heat-resistant surface with plenty of space around it. Never set it on glass or plastic.
- Keep at least 4 inches (10 cm) of clear space on every side and 6 inches (15 cm) above.
- Lift the oven by the side handholds. Do not lift it by the door handle.
- With the oven empty, insert the pizza stone using both hands. Never lift the oven while the stone is inside.
- Optional: insert the oven shelf.
- Plug the power cord into the back of the oven, then into a grounded wall outlet.
- Set the power switch on the back to on, then tap the Standby button.
The Ooni Volt 2 manual says to connect the plug to the appliance first and then the cord to the wall. To switch off, turn any control to off and remove the plug from the outlet.
Keep the oven away from hot gas or electric burners, flammable items and heated ovens.
In standby the oven draws 0.7 W. When you finish cooking, tap the Standby button, then wait 30 minutes for the oven to cool before you switch off the power.
Pizza Presets and Temperatures
The Volt 2 has three pizza presets, plus Oven, Broil/Grill, Dough proofing and a custom preset. The Neapolitan preset starts at 810 °F and adjusts up to 850 °F. Other electric models behave differently, as the electric pizza oven temperature guide explains.
| Preset or mode | Preset temperature | Adjustable range | Crisping intensity | Preset timer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Neapolitan | 810 °F / 430 °C | 710 to 850 °F / 375 to 450 °C | 5 | 1:30 |
| Thin & crispy | 660 °F / 350 °C | 570 to 700 °F / 300 to 370 °C | 3 | 4:30 |
| Pan pizza | 530 °F / 275 °C | 450 to 560 °F / 230 to 295 °C | 3 | 9:00 |
| Dough proofing | 90 °F / 30 °C | 70 to 100 °F / 20 to 40 °C | Disabled | 2:00 hours |
| Oven | 360 °F / 180 °C | 210 to 480 °F / 100 to 250 °C | Disabled | Not preset |
| Broil/Grill | Disabled | Disabled | 1 to 5 | Not preset |
The Ooni Volt 2 manual says you can only change the temperature within the range of the preset you selected.
The Ooni Volt 2 manual caps Oven mode at 480 °F and describes it for frozen pizza or dishes that do not need high heat. Broil/Grill has no preheat and works from direct, dry heat above, controlled by crisping intensity instead of a temperature.
Seasoning the Oven Before First Use
Season the Volt 2 once before the first cook by running the Neapolitan preset at 850 °F for 30 minutes, then wiping the inside with dry paper towels.
- Select the Neapolitan preset and set the temperature to 850 °F (450 °C).
- Run the oven for 30 minutes.
- Tap the Standby button, let the oven cool completely, then disconnect it from power.
- Wipe the inside with dry paper towels.
Always wear gloves when your hand goes inside the oven, because the interior stays hot after use. The Ooni Volt 2 manual recommends an Ooni Digital Infrared Thermometer for measuring the pizza stone temperature accurately.
Cooking Pizza With Boost and Timers
Boost works only in the Neapolitan preset, where holding the control dial for 3 seconds cooks a Neapolitan-style pizza in about 90 seconds.
- Tap the preset you want. Its target temperature flashes for 3 seconds, or press the control dial to start at once.
- Wait for the heating indicator to stop pulsing. The manual says not to cook until the indicator is constant with the cavity light on.
- Adjust temperature, crisping intensity or the timer by tapping its button, turning the control dial and pressing the dial to confirm.
- For Boost, press and hold the control dial for 3 seconds in the Neapolitan preset. Launch the pizza when the Boost ready light turns solid green.
Boost stays unavailable for 3 minutes after each use to prevent overheating, so plan your second pizza around that wait. For Neapolitan pizza itself, see this Neapolitan pizza recipe.
If there is no interaction or active timer for 2 hours in cooking modes, or 14 hours in proofing mode, the oven switches to standby on its own. Always monitor your food, since you can remove it at any time.
Cleaning the Stone, Interior and Filter
Clean the Volt 2 only when it is cool and unplugged, and never wash the stone with water or soap. The Ooni Volt 2 manual says to run the oven at full power for 45 minutes with no food to burn off residue from the stone.

- Wait until the oven is completely cool, then disconnect it from power.
- Remove the stone with both hands and clear loose debris with an Ooni Pizza Oven Brush.
- Wipe the interior sides, the oven shelf and the inside of the door with a damp cloth, then dry immediately.
- Put the stone back, run the oven at full power for 45 minutes with no food, let it cool, then brush away the ash.
- Soak the oven shelf in hot, soapy water, or wash it in a dishwasher on a normal cycle.
Never spray kitchen cleaner inside the oven, and keep water away from the vents on the door housing. The Ooni Volt 2 manual also rules out abrasive cleaners and scouring pads, because metal pad fragments can touch electrical parts.
When the clean filter indicator lights, twist the filter housing a quarter turn clockwise to remove it. Soak the filter in hot, soapy water or use the dishwasher on a normal cycle, dry it fully, then lock it back in with a quarter turn counterclockwise. Hold the crisping intensity button for 3 seconds to dismiss the indicator.
Safety Limits and Troubleshooting
The Ooni Volt 2 manual says the Volt 2 is for indoor household use only, and it caps meat and fatty foods at 480 °F to prevent spontaneous ignition.
- Use the oven indoors only. The manual says not to use it outdoors.
- Do not cook meat or fatty foods above 480 °F / 250 °C.
- After a power cut or sudden shutdown, do not touch the oven until it is completely cool.
- Do not open the door if food or flour catches fire inside. Set the oven to standby and wait until it is completely cool.
If the oven shows an over-temperature notice, wait for it to cool before cooking. If an error notice appears, check the troubleshooting guide, or contact Ooni customer support at support.ooni.com.
